Android Game Emulator for Chromebook

Google has launched its first android game emulator for chromebook and it’s very cool. The latest Chrome OS upgrade, on the other hand, is exclusively available for the Asus Chromebook Flip. While devices like the Acer Chromebook R11 and the Google Chromebook Pixel will be the first to receive the update, owners of other Chromebooks will have to wait a long time. According to Google’s current roadmap, other Chromebooks will get the Play Store build later this year or early next year.

There are alternative ways to run Android apps on a Chromebook if you’re impatient like us. We’ll utilize the ARC Welder software to run Android apps on Chrome OS, using Google’s App Runtime for Chrome OS (beta). So, here’s how you use it to run Android apps:

ARC Welder allows you to run Android applications on any Chromebook.

1. Go to the Chrome Web Store and download the ARC Welder app.

2. Then, for each program you wish to run on your Chromebook, download the APK files. APK files may be downloaded at

3. Open the ARC Welder app after downloading an app’s APK file. The sole option available in the app is to “Add your APK.” Select the option.

4. From the Files app, choose the APK file you downloaded.

5. Once the program has loaded the APK file, you will be presented with several options for customizing your app experience. You may pick between portrait and landscape orientations, form factors (tablet, phone, maximized or fullscreen), and whether or not to allow the program “Clipboard access.” After that, click “Test” to launch the program.

6. If you have previously installed the ARC Welder app, the program will request you to uninstall it before it can begin loading the new APK. The software should then start to run. If your Chromebook supports it, you may begin using the app with a mouse or touch.

Important Considerations

Expect low performance from the ARC Welder program, intended for developers trying to optimize their Android apps for Chrome OS. However, if all you want to do is run a few Android applications on your Chromebook, it’s not too bad. There are a few things to keep in mind if you plan on utilizing ARC Welder:

  • After hitting “Test,” be patient since some applications may take longer to launch than others.
  • For the most excellent results, developers recommend using Tablet or Maximized as the form factor and Landscape as the screen orientation. You can resize an app’s window just like you would on a regular app, and the UI will adjust to fit.
  • Not all of the applications are functional. We tested most of the popular apps’ APKs, but just a few of them worked with Chrome OS. As Google begins to integrate its Play Services, this should be resolved in future Chrome OS versions.
  • Instead of checking out the beta or alpha builds of a program, you should download the stable version of the software.

While other Chrome OS emulation programs allow you to run Android apps, we did not have a good experience with them. The ARC Welder software proved to be the most effective for us.
